Quirky Camping yurts
Ecological yurts campsites in Dordogne
Welcome to quirky camping yurts
Quirky campingAn unusual accommodation in the middle of the hills of the north-east Dordogne. You'll be warm and cosy in private, fully-equipped yurts.
You'll look out over long stretches of cereal crops, corn and sunflowers, and old local farms.
Each yurt has been handmade with all our heart here at Quirky Camping using willows from our plantation. The yurts are much more than just a bedroom, they have a spacious living area, with polished parquet flooring.
But you don't just get a yurt, each one is connected to a summer kitchen, a terrace-salon and a barbecue, as well as a bathroom with solar hot water and a dry toilet.
All our yurts are fully furnished with recycled and salvaged items, bought at flea markets or donated by locals (we've become known for our ability to bring things back to life!).
Bedding, carpets, solar-powered lanterns and bedside lanterns are provided, as well as plenty of books and games, maps and local information, so you can really make the most of your stay.
Yourte la cachette: simple and cosy
The yurt sits on a chestnut parquet floor, and a small terrace is located next to it. It's our smallest yurt but offers easy access to sun and shade, and you can find comfort whatever the weather, and when evening falls, you have an excellent view of the setting sun and then a magnificent starry sky.
Rustic furniture has been found and restored on site by motivated volunteers to provide you with a cosy space. We also provide bedding, lights and candles and plenty of games and books, as well as information and maps on local life to help you make the most of this wonderful place.
Yourte le grand abri
Le Grand Abri is our original retreat for two, perched atop a hill, offering breathtaking views of the valley and beyond. Le Grand Abri offers fully self-contained accommodation featuring a fully equipped summer kitchen with terrace and raised deck, as well as a yurt room with comfortable living space and adjacent to its own private bathroom and compost toilet.
Yourte la Cabushe
This beautifully handcrafted yurt was built in 2014, under Matt's direction by a couple of volunteers from Wiltshire (a region in southwest England). The combination of barked silver willow and dark oak is a wood-lover's dream and a great feeling when waking up in the morning, with the sweet sound of chickens crowing in the background and our two pigs grunting and strolling up the hill next door.
Bodgers Yurt
It's a spacious four-and-a-half-meter yurt. It has a cozy atmosphere, accentuated by the canopy of trees. It is furnished with a comfortable double bed, but we can add a second single bed if required (and/or a cot).
Your solar-heated shower is located right in the corner of the round house, with a sink right next to it, so you can wash your hands while enjoying the view of the woods!
