Parc du Château de Campagne

Domaine de Campagne, park, arboretum and château

Welcome to the Parc du château de Campagne

The park of the château de Campagnebetween Le Bugue, Saint Cyprien and les Eyzies-de-Tayac is open all year round and free of charge. (closed from December to February, except during school vacations).

The park was designed during the Second Empire and has suffered from the ravages of time. It has recently been restored.

The park has been redesigned in the style of 19th-century English gardens (green corridor, peninsula, serpentine and kitchen garden) and has been awarded the "jardins remarquables" label. Planted with century-old redwoods and cedars, you can enjoy a bucolic break in a conservatory orchard and arboretum, or along the restored Chemin des Dames staircase: 139 steps and a 22-meter drop, decorated with lanterns.

Ideal for summer evening concerts, it's the gateway to the Campagne forest, where you can take a free walk every day of the year.

The château is not open to the public, but does host temporary exhibitions. It is listed in its entirety as a historical monuments since April 5, 2001, with its outbuildings, park and fences.

Behind the château and its outbuildings lie 337 hectares of forest.

Since 2015, the site has been classified as a biological reserve covering an area of 172 ha, including 34 ha in a directed biological reserve, 138 ha in an integral biological reserve and 165 ha in a buffer zone.

The forest of Campagne is home to rare species such as the Genet, the Circaète jean le blanc, the Peregrine Falcon and the Tichodrome échelette.

The Campagne estate has been owned by the Dordogne department since 2007.
