The Dordogne over the water

Welcome to the Gabarres de Bergerac

Since the Gallo-Roman period, the Dordogne River was the main route of communication between the Massif Central, the Auvergne and Bordeaux, from the autumn when the water was high enough, flat-bottomed boats: the Gabares, travelled the river.

Les Gabarres de Bergerac offers 3 circuits on the Dordogne on these motorised boats today.

Circuit 1 (50 min)

Discover Bergerac for 10 centuries of history in the water, the batellerie, the vineyards, the island of the lawn, the fauna and flora of our Dordogne River classified world biosphere reserve by UNESCO

Circuit 2 (1H30)

Departing from Creysse, return to the port of Creysse via the village of Mouleydier, its fisheries, the springs, the cluzeaux and the port of Tuillères, its ladder of locks and its hydroelectric dam.

Circuit 3 (2H reserved for groups)

Departing from the port of Bergerac, arriving at the port of Creysse with the history of the city of Bergerac, the batellerie, the fauna and the flora, the port of Creysse, its fisheries
