The abbey of the door of Our Lady of Good Hope is located in the heart of the Double, in the commune of Échourgnac (400 inhabitants), about 1 km west of this village and 16 km of Montpon Menesterol. Set in a large meadow clearing, it is lined with a chain of ponds, which make it a frame both austere and pacifying.
It is welcoming for the arrival who discovers it at the junction of the D 38 and pleasant for those who stay there a few hours, a few days, or all her life.
It is not an ancient abbey. It was built from 1868 and its classical architecture is not distinguished by any particular trait.
It is not a classified site or a historical monument. It is a living abbey, currently inhabited by a community of some 30 nuns of the Cistercian order of strict Observance, still says Trappist, whose ages range from 26 to 90 years.
In the Cistercian and Benedictine tradition, the nuns welcome those who are in search of silence to recover in the presence of God. The purpose of a stay at the hotel is spiritual resourcing. It is offered to individual individuals or to groups formed.
Retirement is a favorable time for reading, prayer, meditation, walking. Retreaters can organize their time at their own pace. They are invited to participate freely in the prayer hours of the community that celebrates God seven times a day.
The hotel offers a space of silence where the heart can open to listening to the word of God. In order to preserve the solitude of each one, the meals are taken in silence.
Participation in the services and maintenance of the premises is appreciated.
The hotel sister is available to the retreaters if they wish. If they want to meet a priest, they can speak to the Padre.
The stay is limited to one week.
