La Meynardie holiday cottage
The Meynardie is located just outside Siorac de Ribérac, picturesque village of the Périgord Vert, in the Department of the Dordogne in the southwest of France. La Meynardie is a 12th century Manor House, full of character and charm. It has close historical links with the Romanesque church of Siorac de Ribérac, an adorable village perched on the Hill just a short walk from La Meynardie. After being a small monastery and then a castle, La Meynardie is today the beautiful home where Nigel and Judith Nicholson and their three boys reside; The Meynardie has been restored with taste and love for 25 years.
The gîte is completely independent of the main house and enjoys a beautiful view of the surrounding meadows, planted with young poplars and beautiful fruit trees, in which quietly grazed sheep. All rooms overlook a long and spacious covered terrace that runs along the entire building where it is good to relax in the shade during the hot summer days and to protect itself from the rain in winter. The accommodation consists of a large living room with American kitchen equipped with all comforts, a dining area and a cosy sitting area in front of a beautiful stone fireplace. Large window doors open onto the terrace. An oak staircase leads to a mezzanine overlooking the living room, space arranged in the rest and play room (with TV, radio, DVD player, books and board games) especially suitable for children and young people.
There are three double rooms, spacious and comfortable, and two bathrooms (the one on the ground floor, the largest, has been specially designed to provide wheelchair access). The two bedrooms on the ground floor have direct access to the main bathroom and the patio doors opening onto the terrace. A third bedroom is located on the first floor; It is accessed by an oak staircase from a room on the ground floor, so it is particularly suitable for children. The fourth bedroom has a completely independent access, crossing the mezzanine, with its own bathroom and direct access to the garden. The large garden is lawn, and big ash trees are home to a hut perched in the branches. There is a large space for all sorts of games, such as pétanque, badminton and ping-pong.
A large swimming pool, equipped with a salinization system is dug in hillside overlooking the cottage and the surrounding countryside, bathed in Sunshine until evening. There is direct access to the West end of the terrace to the pool by a stone staircase. The occupants have the opportunity to have the exclusive use of the beautiful swimming pool during their stay or to share it with the Nicholson family and some friends.
