La Meynardie is located just outside Siorac de Ribérac, a picturesque village in the Périgord Vert region of the Dordogne département in south-west France. La Meynardie is a 12th century manor house, full of character and charm. It has close historical links with the Romanesque church of Siorac de Ribérac, a lovely hilltop village just a short walk from La Meynardie. Once a small monastery, then a château, La Meynardie is now the beautiful home of Nigel and Judith Nicholson and their three boys; La Meynardie has been lovingly restored over the past 25 years.
The gîte is completely independent from the main house and enjoys a beautiful view over the surrounding meadows, planted with young poplars and beautiful fruit trees, where sheep graze peacefully. All rooms open onto a long, spacious covered terrace running the length of the building, where you can relax in the shade on hot summer days, or get out of the rain in winter. The accommodation comprises a spacious living room with an open-plan kitchen equipped with all modern conveniences, a dining area and a comfortable sitting areasalon in front of a beautiful stone fireplace. Large French windows open onto the terrace. An oak staircase leads to a mezzanine overlooking the living room, which has been converted into a rest and play area (with TV, radio, DVD player, books and board games) particularly suited to children and young people.
There are three spacious, comfortable double bedrooms and two bathrooms (the larger ground-floor one has been specially designed for wheelchair access). The two ground-floor bedrooms have direct access to the main bathroom and French windows opening onto the terrace. A third bedroom is located on the second floor and is accessed via an oak staircase from a first floor bedroom, making it particularly suitable for children. The fourth bedroom has completely independent access across the mezzanine, with its own bathroom and direct access to the garden. The large garden is laid to lawn, and large ash trees shelter a tree house perched in the branches. There's plenty of space for all kinds of games, including pétanque, badminton and table tennis.
A large swimming poolThe swimming pool, equipped with a salt-making system, is dug into the hillside overlooking the gîte and the surrounding campagne , where the sun shines until evening. There is direct access from the west end of the terrace to the pool via a stone staircase. Occupants have the option of having exclusive use of the magnificent pool during their stay, or sharing it with the Nicholson family and a few friends.

La Meynardie offers comfortable year-round accommodation for up to eight people. The following rates (in euros) apply in 2017 per week depending on the season:
- Low season: EUR 960 (October 22 to May 13)
- Mid-season: EUR 1.330 (May 13 to June 17 and September 03 to October 21)
- High season: EUR 1,960 (June 17 to September 3)
Outside high season, groups of up to four and two people respectively will benefit from a 20% and 25% discount on the above weekly rates.
All rates include use of the pool shared with the Nicholson family during the summer months.
Guests wishing exclusive use of the swimming pool must pay a supplement of 185 EUR per week.
Rates apply from Saturday 6 pm to Saturday 11 am. They include gas, water, electricity and shared use of the swimming pool. Bed linen and towels (for the house and pool) are provided and included in the rates. Firewood and heaters can be provided in low season.
Reservations are guaranteed if 40% of the rent is paid in advance. The balance must be paid six weeks before arrival. Refunds will be made for cancellations six weeks prior to arrival, less 25% charged as a cancellation fee. Refunds made four to six weeks prior to arrival will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations made less than four weeks prior to arrival. A deposit of 320 EUR (normally refundable) must be paid with the balance of the rent confirming the booking six weeks prior to arrival.
