The gardens of the Manoir Eyrignac
The gardens of the Manoir Eyrignac, enrolled in historical Monuments since 1986, are undoubtedly the most Beautiful gardens of Périgord . They have been open to the public since 1987 and it is no coincidence that they receive almost 100 000 visitors every year.
No less than 300 plant sculptures are presented in these places. Trimmed hedges and lawns mix harmonieusemnet with a few pieces of water.
Masterpiece of topiary art, these gardens consist mainly of 4 essences of trees and bushes: the charms, the IFS, the Buis and the cypresses offer you a magnificent and different rendering throughout the year varying during the seasons and hours In different shades of green, that's why they are open to visit every day of the year.
Everything is implemented to privilege the exception in a garden: a tradition of the size to Lancienne that is to say with the chalk and hand, the careful finishing work of the lawns bordered with remarkably tamed plants.
An exceptional family patrimony, the Domaine Eyrignac belongs to the same family for more than 500 years, or 22 generations. It's Louis Antoine Gabriel, Marquis de Costes de la Calprenède who initiated the design of the French gardens in the 18th century, of the latter there are only the fountains, the basins and the statues, they were later transformed into an English garden. ur follow the fashion of the time until the 20th century. It was then that Gilles Sermadiras de Pouzols de Lile in the Sixties undertook from the plans and illustrations found to return to the gardens their route and their original splendour. John Sermadiras is now the worthy heir and continues with my passion the work undertaken by his own.
You will also discover numerous flowers, such as the beautiful White Rose Garden, created on the edge of the large gardens which adds poetry and lightness to these places.
Everything lies in detail, carefully calculated pruning and planting of the bushes create exceptional eye-shadowing perspectives, the lines seem parallel counteracting the vanishing point that should appear with the distance, that's where All the genius of landscape architects.
In perpetual evolution, the gardens offer you to discover 4 new poetic and colorful worlds: The Spring garden, the vegetable garden, the Florist garden and the flower meadows. But we tell you little more, you have to come and discover them and feel the indescribable atmosphere.
