Robert Doisneau Station
Doisneau meets the Dordogne
Welcome to the Robert Doisneau station
The Robert Doisneau station is an exhibition space dedicated to the famous photographer.
Robert Doisneau (1912-1994) was known for his photographs of daily life in Paris and the suburbs, highlighting the poetry and humanity of urban life. He studied at the École Estienne in Paris and began his career working for fashion and advertising magazines.
He is best known for his photograph "Le Baiser de l'Hôtel de Ville" which has become one of the most famous images in French photography. He was also a great advocate of humanistic photography, which focuses on ordinary people and their daily lives.
Doisneau has also worked for magazines such as Life, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. He has received numerous awards and honors for his work, including the Grand Prix National de la Photographie in 1986.
The galleries of the Robert Doisneaux station
Spread over three floors, the Robert Doisneau station is an original place where design and originality meet.
On the first floor, you will discover photographs of Robert Doisneau's vacations in the Dordogne and in the Lot at the dawn of the Second World War in August 1939. We can see well known landscapes, family photos, canoe trips... Some timeless photographs show us an unchanged Dordogne.
On the second floor, the theme is "slices of life", a subject often used by Robert Doisneau. You will discover photographs of "characters" from our region, notably those of Rougié foie gras.
This gallery also includes a laboratory where you can learn about film photography through an interactive digital animation. You will learn the techniques of development still used today by passionate photographers
Temporary exhibitions:
In addition to its permanent exhibitions, the Robert Doisneau train station also welcomes artists for temporary exhibitions throughout the year. This is an opportunity to discover the photography of artists on the move and to discover new talents in the field of photography.
