Gabares Norbert
Gabare rides in La Roque Gageac, Dordogne
Welcome to Gabares Norbert: commented walks on the Dordogne
The NORBERT Gabars A family business committed to the transmission of values and the authenticity of the Périgord's heritage, the company has set itself the task of perpetuating the history, traditions and lives of the boatmen of the past.
The gabare or gabarre is a traditional type of flat-bottomed boat formerly used to transport goods on the Dordogne.
By making you travel over the water on an authentic reproduction of 18th century gabares in its forms, you will relive this distant time when all the transport (wine, wood, fish, salt, chestnut, truffle...) was made by boat under conditions Often difficult.
The circuit starts from the pier of La Roque Gageac "3rd favourite village of the French" and takes you to the Castelnaud bridge overhung by the 12th century castleThis part of the river offers you a unique account of the history of the Périgord and its castles but also an original way to discover nature, its animals and its vegetation.
Our hostesses, captains and sailors will be delighted to welcome you to make your river trip an unforgettable moment of escape...and culture!
All our itineraries are commented and last 55 minutes.
Our establishment has been awarded the Qualité Tourisme label. The Tourism Quality label is the only state label awarded to tourism professionals for the quality of their welcome and their services.
