The Gardens of Marqueyssac Perched on rocky spur overlooking the valley of the Dordogne offers you in a magical place one of the most beautiful panorama of the Dordogne.
Surrounding the castle with its Lauze roof (flat limestone from the Périgord), the gardens of Marqueyssac have been designed for walking with more than 6 km of paths lined with 150,000 hand-cut century-old box trees, and embellished with waterfalls, belvederes, rock gardens and green theatres...
The park of more than 22 hectares is facing on the one hand the Chateau de Castelnaud and the Château de Beynac on the other hand. It is at the centre of the historical heritage of the Dordogne (Domme, la Roque Gageac, Beynac, Sarlat, the milandes...).
The Classé Garden is a masterpiece of topiary art with its hand-carved box.
Visit of the Gardens of Marqueyssac:
Throughout your walk, an illustrated sign will inform you about the history of the valley, its fauna and its flora.
In addition to the self-guided tour, a guided tour (in French and English) is offered on an optional basis and is available in English and French. without surcharge from April to September.
On site, children will enjoy the playgrounds, a high course on a net, swings and huts as well as the Turner's workshop on boxwood in season and the Aviary.
You will be able to do the Via Ferrata on a cliffside overlooking the Dordogne River.
In addition you will discover the Boutique-bookshop and enjoy the tea room and restaurant at the chateau and on its panoramic terrace from April to November.
Accessibility :
The Marqueyssac gardens are situated on a promontory and are partially accessible to people with reduced mobility despite the height difference.
The area around the castle is relatively easy to reach. The 900-metre walk to the belvedere is wheelchair accessible if required.
An electric shuttle is available to visitors on the big aisle from April to the end of September. It reduces the distance to walk to the Belvedere.
Benches are spread all along the walks. You can enjoy the gardens at your own pace.
A disabled parking is available in the immediate vicinity of the entrance to the site.
The toilets are equipped to accommodate people with reduced mobility.
For the visually impaired, a Braille tour guide is available at the reception.

Great Egg Hunt 2023
Every year the bells fly over the gardens of Marqueyssac to litter more than 6 000 eggs of all colors. During the afternoon of these two days, the children go to their search through the labyrinths and along the fairways of the Park, in a great hunt punctuated with laughter and cavalcades. Initiation to climbing.
The egg hunt is reserved for children (from 2 to 12 years old), upon prior registration.
