Jardins de Marqueyssac

Romantic, picturesque gardens overlooking the Dordogne - a masterpiece of topiary art

The Gardens of Marqueyssac: romantic and picturesque

Marqueyssac Gardens perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Dordogne valley, this magical setting offers one of the finest panoramas in the Dordogne.

Surrounding the Lauze-roofed château (flat Périgord limestone), the gardens of Marqueyssac have been designed for strolling, with more than 6 km of paths lined with 150,000 centuries-old, hand-trimmed box trees, and embellished with waterfalls, belvederes, rockeries and green theaters...

The park of more than 22 hectares faces the Castelnaud castle and the Château de Beynac. It is at the heart of the Dordogne's historic heritage (Domme, la Roque Gageac, Beynac, sarlat, les milandes...).

The listed garden is a masterpiece of topiary art, with its rounded, hand-trimmed boxwoods.

Visit the Marqueyssac gardens:

Throughout your walk, illustrated signs tell you all about the valley's history and its flora and fauna.

In addition to the self-guided tour, an optional guided tour (in French and English) is available. at no extra charge from April to September.

On site, children can enjoy play areas, a high ropes course, swings and huts, as well as the boxwood turner's workshop in season, and the Aviary.

You can complete the Via Ferrata on a cliffside overlooking the Dordogne river.
You'll also discover the Boutique-Librairie and enjoy the Salon tea room and restaurant in the château and on its panoramic terrace from April to November.

Accessibility :

The Marqueyssac gardens are located on a promontory and are partially accessible to people with reduced mobility, despite the height difference.

An electric shuttle is available to visitors on the Grande Allée from April to the end of September. It shortens the walking distance to the Belvedere.

There are benches all along the promenades. So you can enjoy the gardens at your own pace.

Disabled parking is available in the immediate vicinity of the site entrance.

The toilets are equipped to accommodate people with reduced mobility.
