At the Laugerie Basse prehistoric shelters, wander beneath a real habitat occupied by man since the Magdalenian era, and which has been an essential dig site for archaeologists. Thanks to a digital tablet, which will be your guide during the visit, discover why and how man has appropriated this place to live since prehistoric times. This fun tour will delight your children, who will learn while having fun. A real leap back in time!

The prehistoric site Laugerie Basse shelteroccupied between 15,000 and 10,000 BC, has served as a benchmark for prehistorians the world over.

The many archaeological remains discovered bear witness to a cultural and aesthetic activity unrivalled in the region, and indeed in Europe. The exceptionally varied range of decorated furniture perfectly illustrates the quality of the drawings of "modern" prehistoric man.
The site comprises two shelters: the Marseilles shelter and the classic shelter.

Your visit to the Laugerie Basse shelter:

A new family tour lets you discover the richness of this site. You'll start with a 3D projection covering the main aspects of the site (geology, archaeology, lifestyle and symbolic expression): an opportunity to get up close and personal with the objects that have made Laugerie Basse famous. Then, using a tablet, you'll be invited to take part in a virtual archaeological dig and discover the site in situ, thousands of years ago, in 360° augmented reality.

On the banks of the Vézère, the "mineral forest" of the Grand Roc, the prehistoric shelters and the cliffs built during the historic periods, represent a unique and unmissable ensemble for visitors.
