Welcome to the National Museum of Prehistory
Installed in the old Château des Eyzies de Taillac since 1911, inlaid in the cliff overlooking the village. The National Museum of Prehistory is a place of reference for prehistorians and visitors alike.
It is located in the heart of the Vézère valley known as the Valley of Man, close to the largest prehistoric sites listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The museum houses exceptional collections that retrace more than 400 millennia of human presence.
The National Museum of Prehistory is a lively place that welcomes archaeologists, students and researchers from all over the world. Throughout the year, lectures follow one another open to the public, students and schoolchildren.
It is not frozen, temporary and virtual exhibitions follow one another. Discover the agenda of the National Museum of Prehistory here
