Jardins Panoramiques de Limeuil
The panoramic gardens of Limeuil
Welcome to the panoramic gardens of Limeuil
Panoramic gardens at the top of the medieval village of Limeuil classified as one of France's most beautiful villages. Situated on the site of an ancient fortified castle, they overlook the confluence of the Dordogne-Vézère rivers.
You'll enter the gardens through the original home of the village's first owner, Dr Linarès, who, after spending his career working for the Sultan of Morocco, returned to Limeuil in 1902. He built an imposing house in the unlikely style of a colonial military fort. At the foot of his square, grey, massive but surprisingly natural fort, Fernand Linares had the idea of giving shape to and staging the extraordinary garden of his dreams.
Since 2004, the association au fil du temps, in partnership with the town council, has been restoring the gardens to their former glory. The association has installed new educational, fun and interactive gardens (color garden, witch garden, water garden, insect garden...) with thematic interpretation trails.
Stroll along the path that winds around the promontory through the gardens and enjoy the 360° panorama below you. The site comprises a succession of educational, fun and interactive gardens set in a 2-hectare panoramic arboretum.
Throughout the year, the association organizes events in this magical place. Whether for groups or schools, the team offers guided tours and educational workshops. Outside partners also regularly take over the site to offer garden-themed events.
