Welcome to the panoramic gardens of Limeuil
The panoramic gardens remain at the top of the medieval village of Limeuil classified "most beautiful villages in France". Situated on the site of the former fortified castle, they overlook the confluence of the Dordogne-Vézère rivers.
You will enter the gardens through the original house of the first owner, Doctor Linarès, a native of the village who, after spending his career with the Sultan of Morocco, returned to settle in Limeuil in 1902. He had an imposing house built there with the appearance of a military fort which seems unlikely to be in the colonial style. At the foot of his square, grey, massive but astonishingly natural fort, Fernand Linares had the idea of creating and staging the extraordinary garden of his dreams.
Since 2004, the association, in partnership with the town hall, has undertaken to restore the gardens to their full splendour. The association has installed new educational, fun and interactive gardens (colour garden, witch garden, water garden, insect garden...) with themed interpretation paths.
You will walk along the path that goes around the promontory through the gardens and enjoy the 360° panorama under your feet. The site is made up of a succession of educational, fun and interactive gardens laid out in a 2 hectare panoramic arboretum.
Throughout the year, the association organizes activities in this magical place. For groups or schools, the team offers adapted and accompanied visits with educational workshops. External partners also regularly take over the site to offer activities on the theme of gardens.
