La Filature de Belvès
Discovering our craft and industrial heritage
Welcome to the Belvès wool mill
Located at the foot of the village of Belvès classified as one of France's "most beautiful villages", in a former mill in the Nauze valley, with its impressive engine room, the Belvès woolen mill bears witness to Périgord's industrial heritage.
Follow in the footsteps of the workers and visit the spinning mill through demonstrations and interactive exhibits, following the transformation of raw wool into yarn. Games, slideshows, videos, information panels and models will enable young and old alike to discover wool in all its forms.
Try your hand at wool: it's your turn to handle the card and spindle! Discover impressive preserved industrial tools from the early 20th century: the wolf-card, the winder, the winder...
Activities included in the price. Treasure hunt all year round. Easter, summer and All Saints' vacation workshops.
Throughout the year, we offer a wide range of courses (weaving, knitting, sewing, etc.). see our calendar
Vintage Escape Game: a spinning investigation
Our machines are at a standstill. But do you know why? We have 6 employees, and we suspect that one of them has dismantled an essential part of the machines! They've been working with us for a long time, so we think the culprit has a good reason, but what is it?
We're waiting for you to solve the case at the spinning mill!
The store:
The boutique offers a wide range of wool yarns in a variety of origins and colors, as well as local handicrafts and felt items produced by our machine: caps, potholders, oven gloves, phone and glasses pouches. But also DIY kits to make your own little bag or Cosy for the teapot. There's no shortage of ideas. You'll also find a selection of books and toys.
Discover also the 2 other sites of the association over time:
- The Rouzique mill
- The gardens of Limeuil
