Chestnuts are an emblematic fruit of the Périgord Noir region, along with porcini mushrooms and truffles.
The chestnut house located in Villefranche du PérigordThe 13th-century bastide invites you to discover the world of chestnuts, its cultivation and its various culinary and industrial uses.
In 4 themed rooms, with free admission, you'll discover all the secrets of chestnuts and chestnut trees, as well as the different hosts of the Dordogne forests.
At the end of the tour, the Maison du Châtaignier invites you to explore the Chestnut Nature Trail, a 1,500 m-long educational trail with signposts and commentary on the various aspects of the tree and its cultivation.
The tour lasts around 60 minutes and can be guided by appointment.
A store offers a range of chestnut and mushroom products from local producers.
