THE CHARMETTES is a beautifully restored périgourdine farmhouse close to Périgueux in the Dordogne. Surrounded by meadows and trees, the house offers all the comfort and intimacy.
It is ideally located for access to all Activities in the region, and the Tourist centers. Fully equipped, including English TV and WiFi.
The gîte caters to nature lovers where you can see a wide range of animals: hares, hawks and buzzards, and many varieties of wild flowers and butterflies.
Description of the gîte les charmettes
The Charmettes can accommodate two couples or a family of four, the gite is bright and airy.
The kitchen is fully equipped with stove, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher and coffee maker. A fireplace opens on the kitchen and the living room.
French television is available as well as free WiFi connectivity.
On the ground floor 2 bedrooms: The master bedroom with its own bathroom and at the end of the main hallway another double room with its own toilet and shower room.
The upstairs room has two beds and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding meadow.
Outside there is a backyard patio offering a private sun bath, and the deck Terrace offers an excellent dining room for the BBQ or even breakfast outside.
Located in the center of the Dordogne, the area abounds in outdoor activities. Easy access to tourist sites for all tastes and interests.
Animals are welcome. The chalet is a non-smoking area.
Environment and activities nearby
The gîte Les Charmettes is located in a triangle between Périgueux, Sarlat And Bergerac and therefore has convenient access to most of the areas attractions, be it sport, sightseeing and sightseeing, or the myriad of local markets and home events.
Amenities
There is a small supermarket in Rouffignac, about 7 minutes away. There is also an ATM and a newsagent who stocks English and Dutch newspapers as well as French newspapers, stationery, pens, postcards, etc.
On the east of Périgueux, there are two hypermarkets, located in shopping malls. There is a third hypermarket on the west side of Périgueux.
Rouffignac also has a bakery as well as the twelve, which is also nearby. There is a corner shop at the twelve, similar to that of Rouffignac.
For sports, there is a large sports store: Decathlon, located on the outskirts of Périgueux. Smaller sports articles are available in a limited range at Carrefour Contact in Rouffignac.
Restoration
St. Geyrac offers a limited menu in its bar/restaurant, as is the village of La 12.
There are other dining options at Juliens ' Paunat (30 minutes by car) and Tremolat which offers Relais & Châteaux restaurants.
You will find many Restaurants in Périgueux. Place Saint-Louis is a very attractive place, which is surrounded by restaurants offering a very wide range of cuisine. Asian food lovers will not be disappointed because Vietnamese/Chinese and Japanese and Indian flavors are also well served.
Sports activities
The area offers a multitude of sports activities.
Golf. There is a Golf Course About 8 minutes as well as the municipal course in Périgueux. Brive has a course that is about 40 minutes. Chateau de vigiers Near Bergerac Also has a golf course as well as its own vineyard/restaurant and other smaller courses can be found in the vicinity within 30 minutes by car.
Riding. There is a stable nearby that offers horse/pony rides in the surrounding woods.
Canoeing: Each village on the nearby rivers offers Canoeing and kayaking facilities. These providers take you up-river by bus, with your canoe. Life jackets are provided by the service provider
Les Charmettes is located along a marked circular hiking trail (2 hours). This trail is also connected to other marked trails.
Being in an agricultural area, there are many other trails unmarked through the woods and the nearby forest.
These trails can also be used for Mountain bike.
Boules is available in the gite.
If you can not survive without cricket there are local cricket teams in the area.
The nearest gardens are those ofEyrignac, Marqueyssac and the imaginary. They all offer something unique to the garden lover.
Local markets
Each village has its own market on a specific weekday (or weekend). In the summer many villages have night markets. There are neighbouring markets on Sunday (Rouffignac), Tuesday (Bugue), Wednesday and Saturday (Périgueux), Friday (VERGT) to name but a few. There is a list in the local tourist guide brochure in the lodging.
